What to know about dental veneers
What are dental veneers
Dental veneers are custom accessories designed to help hide or correct dental damage, including:
l Stains and discoloration
l Potato Chips and Small Missing Pieces
l decay
l distort
l gap between teeth
Dental veneers help improve the appearance of a person's teeth. They may be beneficial for people looking to address ongoing cosmetic issues long-term, especially those who have not responded to other dental treatments such as teeth whitening, braces, or retainers.
During placement, dentists usually remove a small amount of enamel, the thin protective shell of the tooth. Because of this, once a dentist has placed veneers, a person cannot remove them or choose not to use them.

Veneer Type
1. PMMA veneer
The main components of resin veneer: composite resin + fine porcelain components. The physical properties (strength) are about 400MPa; it is made in the patient's mouth and directly applied to the tooth surface, and then cured by light to restore the defects and cover discoloration that affect the aesthetics of the teeth. The method is simple and practical, easy to repair, and the cost is low, but the aesthetics and firmness are slightly worse, and it is easy to dye.

2. Porcelain veneer
The main components of porcelain veneer: feldspar, kaolin, quartz, etc. The physical properties (strength) are about 90MPa. The production process is usually sintered with porcelain powder, and the main features are accurate and layered color, high permeability (limited shading effect) , because the ceramic powder sintering shrinkage edge is not suitable.
3. Glass ceramic veneer
Main components of glass ceramic veneer: lithium disilicate + glass matrix. Physical properties (strength) are about 400MPa. The production process is usually mechanical cutting molding, the main features are high permeability, precise edge shape, simple and fast production, color blocking effect limited.

4. Zirconia Veneer
The main component of zirconia veneer is zirconium dioxide. The physical properties (strength) are greater than 900MPa. The production process is usually mechanical cutting molding, the main features are the highest hardness, precise edge shape, simple and fast production, good color blocking effect, and hightranslucency, for example, thetranslucency of 3D-Pro ML can reach 42%-49%, almost comparable to resin.

What is the difference between veneers, crowns and implants?
Veneers, crowns, and implants can all improve the appearance of your teeth. However, there are differences between them.
One difference between veneers, crowns and implants is the area of the tooth covered by each option.
Dental veneers mainly cover the front of the teeth. In contrast, crowns cover the entire tooth, including the front, back, and all sides. Therefore, dentists use crowns to repair broken teeth, including those with little structure. Crowns can also help strengthen the teeth they cover.
The implant, meanwhile, is a bolt-like structure that attaches to the jawbone to replace missing teeth.
When necessary, the dentist may use implants to hold the crown in place in the mouth. This can happen if a person is missing a tooth or if a tooth is too broken to be repaired and needs to be extracted.
Essentially, dentists use crowns to repair severely damaged teeth, while implants replace missing teeth. Veneers improve the appearance of most still intact teeth.
How to take care of your teeth after veneers?
l For a short period of time after veneer repair, do not eat food that is too cold or too hot.
l Use a soft-bristled toothbrush, please do not brush your teeth too hard.
l Avoid using coarse-grained toothpaste, as the particles in the toothpaste will affect the finish of the veneer.
l Intended to use dental floss to clean the gums.
l Try to avoid red wine, tea, coffee, and plum foods that cause pigmentation of dental veneers.
l Avoid biting hard objects.
l Stay away from tobacco.
