Application of CAD/CAM
With the rapid development of science and technology, computer-aided design and computer aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology in the field of oral medicine has become increasingly extensive. Computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing technology, which integrates multi-disciplinary knowledge and technology such as mathematics, optics, electronics, computer image recognition and processing, automatic control and automatic processing, were widely used in industrial automation and aviation in the 1970s. The technology for its efficiency, appearance, convenience and multimedia features makes the traditional oral medicine own new vitality , as the traditional oral medicine is gradually entering the computer information age.
After entering the 1990s, with the further development of modern optoelectronic technology, computer technology and image analysis and processing technology, more and more dental CAD/CAM systems have come out. At present, there are more than 10 CAD/CAM systems available, which can make inlays, veneers, full crowns, partial crowns, fixed bridges, etc. However, removable partial dentures and complete dentures are still in the research stage, and there is no mature system. An emerging prosthodontics technology began to take shape, and CAD/CAM system made prosthodontics step into the modern high-tech field.
